And now I see the fickleness of the Cincinnati fan come out. The great Larry Davis lost the game due to poor coaching and sub patterns? LMAO!!!!!! This was a young team in a tough environment. No shame losing to the Huskie at home. I'm disappointed the Cats weren't mentally stronger and feel the players largely gave the game away but it is what it is. On to the next.

i agree with what you said, but at what point does the young team excuse stop? we're three months in the season now and it's not like uc doesnt have any jr or sr who havent been through the fire before.

uc is just an average team. no matter who is coaching it. what we saw today was two average teams going at it. uconn has better skilled players who showed up when they needed to.

Don't understand why Deberry didn't try to block Boatright's shot at half. He was there but backed off and gave him the layup. I say go for the block and if you foul him, so be it. He'll have to earn the 2 pts.on the line. I don't think Deberry had any fouls at that time. That whole sequence is hard for me to step away from. It was a huge moment in the game.

I think he felt like he couldn't really get there and didn't want to give up a cheap and 1. Plus Boatright is a great FT shooter. He probably thought it wasn't worth the risk (also Deberry is so huge any contact high could have looked really bad).

It stops becoming an excuse when they aren't young anymore. That won't be this season. Young teams always have games where they don't play well, it's part of being young. They usually go through stretches of rough play too, it's just part of it.

We lost to a really good team on the road. We played hard and fought. It came down to which team had scorers. They hit big shots down the stretch and we didn't. Have to regroup and move on. Would've been a nice one to win. I thought as physical a game as it was that we did good to score as much as we did. A month ago they might not have broken 40 in this game. The rematch might be a must win to win the title outright.

Yes David, I agree? We were ugly on defense early in the season. I honestly thought this would be the season where our offense would have to step up. But, the defense has improved light years. The offense is improving too. As ugly a game as we played today, honestly, it actually shows how far we have come and I'm optimistic for the 2nd half of the season.

Honestly it doesn't stop. I don't look at "young" as an excuse; rather, it is fact. My goal for this team at the beginning of the year was to make the tournament. That's it. I'm disappointed with a loss today, but losing to UCONN on the road is right in line with a young bubble-ish team currently.

Interesting that they decided to play exclusively man this entire game. I wonder if they were afraid of the three point shot?

I for the first time I think ever waited to after the game to post ha. It is fun to read through all the posts. Bearcatjeff, pretty much agree with ya. I initially said I didn't think we would win this game so I'm not too disappointed. Tough game for all the young blood we have on the floor.

We simply were not tough enough with the ball. The amount of turnovers we had, we would lose majority of all games. With the amounts of guards we have, we should be better with the ball. Hopefully the new guys learned from this game and got ANOTHER dose of what it takes to beat high quality teams. We aren't there yet but we can see improvement. Turnovers man....woof they killed us. No excuse for the lack of ft attempts for UC. Just a really bad 2nd half and UC got their rears handed too them. They still have to develop toughness for 40 min. What's crazy is how poorly we played, I.e. turnovers, lack of ft's etc we only lost by like 6. That is frustrating.

As many deficiencies as Guyn has, I really think that he would help the team immensely. His presence would have had impact in many close games, not saying we would win them, having him would allow UC to cover the hole the 2 spot has been this season

Agreed. The biggest hole is the 2 spot. Cobb, Morman and Johnson aren't consistent enough.

It's not just the 2, it's the 2 and 3 and I've said all year it is the problem spot for the team. That said, I don't know how you believe Guyn is the answer to that.

i think having guyn would cut down on this turnover monster uc has become this year.

There are no answers for the 3. It is manned by a senior and red-shirt jr and they can barely muster 12 points between them. The game that had the most points by Thomas and Sanders was NC State, 21 points.

How has Evans been doing? Any more 40+ point outbursts?
