Redford could hit his 3's and open the lane even more for Tu. Redford percentage wise is one of the best 3 shooters in the country and with a team that doesnt shoot the 3 well- that would help a lot. Martin is also a good shooter (he is a freshman though so cant put too much of season on him) but its well known the two best shooters on this team are out for the year

Martin is irrelevant. He was never going to play this year.

And I already said he could spread the opposing team's defense. I realize he is a really good shooter. The problem is that he doesn't do anything else and is a huge liability on defense. Who would he guard on UC? Dixon? Cash? Bishop? Seriously, I wish he weren't hurt this year. I would love to see him try to defend one of our guards. And unless he was guarding Cash, he would be abused on the glass.

I also say things like I don't like Lyons driving to the lane, he can't finish like Tu. Everyone can be critical of players and their decision making, I would expect a coach to be different.

Are you saying that as fans, we should act how we expect our coach to act? I think refs suck every game, as do almost all fans :), but that doesn't mean I think the coach should say that the refs blew it.

He played last years game, Xavier somehow managed to overcome that and win that one. Do you think that losing Redford doesn't hurt the team/ make the team any worse?

Do you like your coach looking ahead in the schedule? probably not. Do you look ahead and say "looking forward to this game" after looking past some other games? if so you would be hypocritical.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I absolutely want our coaching staff looking ahead. AND THEY DO. They have a system in place where the assistants are always a couple of games ahead.

But to not realize the difference in the two is absolutely hilarious. I hope you aren't that stupid and were just trying to be funny. Well done if so. I definitely laughed.

Mick had legitimate reasons for excuses. Mack really doesn't. He took a partial qualifier that everyone knew wouldn't be eligable. Redford did hurt some. His freshman class has been unproductive so far.

If you are going to accuse a coach of being a whinny bitch, you shouldn't then yourself be a whinny bitch? Why would you want to be something you like to criticize?

So your okay with a coach blaming the refs on a loss, or blaming individual players on a loss, critiziing players decision making in public after a loss? Or are you saying you have never done the like?

I can see the difference between the two- but frankly I was just making a point that as a fan, you absolutely have a different outlook then a coach. Fans can make excuses- coaches shouldnt and you shouldnt want your coach to do that. Have you ever said "man we lost this game because of ___" would you want your coach throwing players under the bus? same deal

I'll admit, I don't hold myself to the same standards as a head coach. I think most people don't. I'm not shocked that you think you should act exactly as the head coach in all situations. LOL.

I think losing Redford hurts minimally because of depth and the fact that the A10 is so weak that he would be helpful there.

But against good competition, I see Redford as a negative player. I would definitely say you are right, X overcame Redford last year as he did nothing when he was in and was routinely isoed early in the game. UC even isoed Larry Davis against Redford. Think about what that says.

Redford has made some HUGE 3's for X in the tournament. His defense is horrible, but he is a very effective tool for the offense. What does it say that UC couldn't beat X last year, when they played someone who was as bad as Redford, and a "walk on" Andrew Taylor?

I just don't understand why you would want to be seen as a whinny bitch?

Comparing how we should view the schedule, or how we should act in the stands while the coach is on the sideline are completely different. But if you don't like a whinny bitch, why act like a whinny bitch?

Or act like a whinny bitch if its deserved but don't complain when someone else does it in the same situation.

And its hilarious to me that X fans can't see the reason that Mack routinely brings up the lack of depth and then follows it up with "but that is no excuse."

He is bringing it up for a reason.

I don't have a problem with criticizing officiating or the players. I wish Mick would do it a little differently. But it doesn't bother me. Huggins used to do it all the time. I don't like it to go overboard, but the fact is that officials play a role in the game, especially late close games and players are the ones that are playing. Holding them accountable is part of the game.

Love this excuse. First of all, which fan base is the one that criticized our coach for complaining about his players being lost to injury? Just more hypocrisy from the Xavier fan base. Nothing new here.

But in reality, anyone with any knowledge of the situation knows that X only lost Redford as Martin was never going to qualify. He would have gone to Louisville if he could have qualified. If Chris Mack and his staff were surprised by Martin being ruled ineligible, they have no grasp on reality.

And finally, if losing Redford is the reason you are struggling, you weren't going to be good in the first place. The guy is easy to cover as he has no game off the dribble and is a huge liability on defense and the glass. He will spread the defense when X is on offense, but that doesn't outweigh the negatives.

This post, and especially the bold part, may be the best damn thing I read all week.

They're already laying the gound work for an out if they lose. MND's finest created a roster with little depth, not too mention very little quality, and now they want to act like they just lost a couple of real studs.

PS Completely OT: Lurch Freese's stat line against Gonzaga may be the most impressive thing I have ever seen. I've been meaning to post it for awhile and ask someone to explain it to me.

18 minutes. 0 pts. 0 rb's. 0 assts. 0 blks. 0 stls. 4 fouls. 2 TO's.

How is that even possible? Lets leave the debates aside, this is serious business. What are the odds of that? 1,000,000,000:1?

Why? I say I don't like when a coach "whines" even though I "whine", And you think I shouldn't "whine" about a player or refs if I am mad that a coach does? That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

So we are clear, you are perfectly okay with a coach acting the same way you act?

you do realize Mick has been a whinny bitch with all his excuses right>? and you say your ok with what he has said because its true- therefore. you are acting like a whiny bitch as well.

10 of 14. UC really does "own this town."

I'm not the one complaining about other coaches and then complaining about the EXACT same thing as it pertains to my team.

That is the definition of hypocritical. That is the Xavier fan base. Huge hypocrites.

That is my problem. Not the complaining myself. If my team lost a player I thought was good, it would bother me.
