These post game threads are some of the ugliest on all the internet.

Cincinnati is so pessimistic it is sickening.

B-I-N-G-O. I was so hesitant to check this thread after watching the game cuz i knew exactly what i was going to stumble across. It just seems that some people fail to see how college basketball has changed. Conference games (especially on the road) have about as much predictability as some tournament games in March. This game was not very pleasing to the eyes, but like others have said, we lose that game last year. Bottom line i've never seen so much disgust with beating the now #34 RPI ranked team on the road, in conference. I'm thrilled with the win, and if that makes me a "bad fan" than I'm all for it. On to the next!

RPI sucks. No one on earth believes Temple is #34 anything. Having said that, winning road games is tough. Puts us in a good position, bc no matter what you say about Temple (they suck), it is one of the hardest AAC games we'll have.

I was really happy to see us play man for basically the entire game. I still think we lucked out in the final 6 minutes, Temple missed quite a few wide open three attempts. Maybe it was due to our good defense all game and it wore them down but we certainly gave up some good looks. Regardless a win is a win.

We will have to score better to win @Houston.

I imagine the game @SMU will look very similar to the Temple game we just played..which is concerning.

I'm more concerned about the games at UCF, ECU, Tulsa and USF looking like last night.

UCF should be the only concern. We have loads more talent than the other 3. Watching the ECU/USF game last night, I would think we can shoot 33% against them and win by double digits.

Why? When you score 0.8 PPP against a bad defense and give up just 0.71 PPP against a mediocre offense, things will change.
Nice job taking one data point and treating it as a set-in-stone reality or a trend.

Last night was a game we won, on the road, in the conference, with our 2nd leading scorer sitting most of the second half and with 2 freshmen making significant contributions.

Let's take the win and move on.

The difference between this year and last so far has been our ability to get stops at the end of games - we didn't have much success with that last year. The defensive possessions at the end of the game last night were impressive. Jacob with some lock down perimeter play, Tre with a nice help side block, Troy with a nice strip and Gary with the easy steal.

Go Cats!

I'm pretty sure that kind of PPP is a set-in-stone trend for us in AAC road games.

couldn't agree more.

Totally agree. The reality of only scoring in the 50's is you let the other team have a chance of winning. You only get to the 50's against the teams you mentioned and there is a strong chance of a bad loss.

Temple is 106 on offense and 82 in defense, so I'm not sure how their offense could be considered "mediocre" compared to their defense being "bad". Sounds like you're using adjectives to portray UC in an unfairly poor light, which you tend to do quite often.

I just thought jumping from 15 to 5 on defense because of one game was pretty intense. Falling from 40 to 55 on offense was, too. I always thought KenPom was a little less-finicky than that. I'm not at all talking down to the KenPom stat, for the record. It's the best one out there.

I think it's very normal to worry about the offense being stagnant, but it's obvious to me that the true root issue is Washington's inconsistency. You kind of know what you're getting with everyone else. With Kyle, it's like a damn flip of a coin. One side is fantastic; the other side is abysmal. Gotta get him back in a rhythm and more consistent, or our post-game will struggle, leading to swinging the ball around the 3 line till the shot clock expires. I know we're all sick of that.

It may or may not be - but I don't know how you can take one data point and draw that conclusion.

I'm pretty sure if we'd blown up and scored 90 last night you wouldn't be on here this morning saying we're going to do that every game.

smh

Are you 100% sure we were 15? I thought we were 9. But maybe that was earlier.

KenPom's #'s usually don't mean much until February I think. Number's are usually inflated a bit due to playing bad teams early. Think that's why there's an option for conference only when looking at the data.

I don't get your point here. We have a track record in AAC road games that has led to being 10-9 the last 2+ seasons. That track record includes scoring in the 50s, not the 90s.

While I agree Washington has to make adjustments getting 5 points in 37 mi utes from TC will not cut it.

Great night from Cumberland. Kid is growing his game.

Tre Scott is turning into a all purpose player that does things to help us win that won't always show up on the stat sheet.

I don't want to speak for anyone else, but I think the point of "concern" is seeing the same thing we always do in "big" games. If we play this way everytime we're away from home the rest of the year, the worry is that we won't see anything different. Lots of numbers available to support that "trend". Maybe this year is different. Maybe this team is different. Maybe luck is different. I don't know. Time will tell. We won last night and that's a great step towards winning a conference title. No one can debate that. But will we keep winning the big games when we play like you aren't allowed to score 60?
