Our bigs played terrible today. The stats don't lie. Yancy was playing poor before the injury. Yancy is capable of so much more.
 
As the announcers said, the team played hard and never quit. Shots did not fall at the beginning of either half, yancy went out early with a sprained ankle in second half. Big East road game against the number 4 team in their dome, not going to win many of them. Go Bearcats!

Take off the red and black glasses for a minute Ralph. Yancy stunk up the joint well before hurting his ankle. Some members of the team played hard. Dixon, SK, Cash, Jackson, Wilks all played hard. Davis was ok he just didn't play great. Bishop was lethargic. Yancy was awful. Thomas was weak. Teams that play hard as a whole get to more loose balls than UC did today. I don't care what an announcer says. I saw it with my own two eyes.

Get real. Yancy played terrible all day. I hope he doesnt start next game.
 
Ralph, you are correct with everything you said. I think our effort collectively was solid but I think we can all agree Thomas and Yancy did not bring it. No one was thinking we should beat Syracuse on the road. I told many people I thought it would be a 15 point Syracuse win. I am not upset becuase I thought we should win. You can not expect to win these games.

ND and St Johns however...

Can't agree with that. If this team is going to be contenders in the tournament then we need Yancy. Syracuse has really good bigs. I agree he does need a chewing out though.

If Yancy does not come to play (or is not healthy) against ND we will be in big time trouble again. ND doesn't have Luke "I am not nearly as good as the Big East officials allowed me to be" Harrangody but they are still solid in the post.

Agreed, enough is enough. If you can't bring it against the #4 team in the country you just have something wrong with you. He looked like he didn't even care out there! It has to be extremely frustrating as a teammate when you know a teammate can dominate a game but plays like a little pu*s*!
 
Yancy doesnt start under Huggins. Not starting anything just saying. If he wants to pick and chose when to give effort he can bring Biggie water during breaks.
 
Awesome guys. I so happy you all are proud of the effort. You know how hard it is to recruit guys that give effort? How about recruiting guys who can play? Maybe that's the next step.
 
Out of all the bigs I thought Biggie played the best. Jackson's technical absolutely took the wind out of the sails of this team. How freaking stupid can you be?! Effort was good Yancy needs a wake up call. Soft, soft, soft. Don't worry about him playing in the league next season. Not going to happen.

It isn't hard to recruit guys that can give effort, they don't have front court players outside of Gates that are physically built to play in the Big East. Unfortunately the one that we do have plays like a pansy. Thomas is way to weak, but can be a decent back up at the 4/5. Wilks is way too weak and Jackson is too weak and immature. Bringing in another weak big man in Ellis isn't going to help, and we cannot expect much out of Gaines. Unless they get a JUCO guy that is going to be able to play right away the weak front court issues are only going to continue.
 
OH so yor saying we should just recruit more 5 star big guys that are physically ready to compete from the start of their careers.

That might just work....

Never said anything about bringing in 5 star recruits, they need to recruit Big men who aren't going to get batted around like a pinball. Incase you didn't see the game on TV, Wilks, Jackson and Thomas hit the ground a lot. Rick Jackson absolutely embarrassed the entire team.

Rick Jackson is a beast down low. Jackson is a true freshman that will put on 35 pounds by next year. Agreed Thomas is soft but we needed him at the time. Wilks was a 3 that we made a 4.

I dont disagree but I know a lot of teams that would love out length and heigth. I do think we could use thicker big men.

But it isnt like Mick hasn't recruited thick guys.

Mike Williams, John Williamson, Adam H, Hall, Toyloy were are fairly strong guys. Right now we don't have that but we should be able to compete with our size.

Hicks does not come around every year. He was a unique player. I think Jackson will bring that effort and will get bigger but he needs time. Gaines is apparently mean and physical but isnt a very good bball player ha.
 
I agree LL. There isn't any shame losing to Syracuse, but I think we are upset over how soft our bigs played and the way it affected the game. Yancy Gates has the tools to be a double double guy nightly. He had 3 rebounds against S. Florida for goodness sake!! I still say I would play Biggie over Thomas. Biggie will at least post.
 
Can we PLEASE stop the Biggie McClain talk. I agree Yancy needs to bring more but Biggie is NOT the answer.
